Tissue paper on bottles and fridge?

Do you remove or keep the tissue paper on the bottles that comes wrapped in them when you store in your Eurocave? Does it matter? If I keep the tissue paper on, will humdity/moisture ruin it?

Does it matter?

always remove the paper before storing. It can only mess up the labels

Definitely remove. Especially color paper, but really all paper.

I sometimes keep them on. Not sure how it’s different from being in the tissue paper inside the OWC.

I leave it on. Never had a discoloring issue with the labels. Labels usually have a varnish to seal the ink. The varnish would have to be abraded and moisture introduced to the tissue paper in order to transfer any color, if the tissue even has color. If you have that much moisture there likely are other issues in your cooler.

The more humid your cellar is the more likely they are to turn labels into a mess over time. I have seen older bottles of L’Evangile in particular where the labels are covered in purple tatters.

However, there is a case that the tissue may protect the label for a period of time anyway. If you have a really humid cellar (70% RH) it may make sense to remove, but I have not had issues myself, and prefer to avoid nicked labels.
