Had a quick biz trip to Ottawa highlighted by airplane problems half way there. Oh well - finally got there in time for my dinner at Play Food Wine. http://www.playfood.ca/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Small plate themed restaurant done very, very well. Everything was excellent. Nice wine list and these are the three wines selected.

2007 Delas Frères Châteauneuf-du-Pape Haute Pierre - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1/27/2010)
My WOTN at Play in Ottawa. This was decanted just a bit. Lots of red and black fruit - but not too jammy. A bit of pepper and some funk. Went very well with the meat dishes. I think it will be better in a few years but can be enjoyed now. (90 pts.) -
2006 Cave Spring Riesling Indian Summer Select Late Harvest - Canada, Ontario, Niagara Peninsula, Niagara Peninsula VQA (1/27/2010)
Had this to end the meal at Play in Ottawa. Ordered with their cheese plate. Not heavy or cloying like an icewine. This had floral, spice, and lychee notes. No one flavor was overpowering. Not the greatest amount of acid backbone. An enjoyable desert wine. (88 pts.) -
2004 Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (1/27/2010)
Ordered this at PLAY in Ottawa. Very nice wine to start the small plate menu. Light, floral with red fruit. A little bit of heat - we didn’t decant and it is still young. Went will with most of the food. Would like to come back to this in a few years. (88 pts.)
