I wonder if some folks misread the question… it’s not what you happen to have in your fridge, at this particular moment, that might be considered unusual, but what you routinely stock – day in and day out – in your fridge that most of the country doesn’t.
Having beet juice in your fridge for a particular dish is one thing… keeping it as a staple would be grounds for commitment…
Sesame oil, Walnut oil, fresh roasted ripe coffe beans, but not the kind that came out of a civet cat’s bottom, which actually are the best, (the beans not the bottom.)
I’ve probably had the beet juice in my fridge for more than a year. It keeps, and the opportunities are rare, and the bottle is small. However I just bought and roasted a dozen baby golden beets from the farmer’s market (also in the fridge) and as soon as I buy some “ashy Chêvre” I am back in business.
