Thoughts on Casa Noble Single Barrel Extra Anejo Tequila?

I just had a glass of this last night at a fancy tequila bar and really liked it. Clearly tequila but it had some richness that reminded me a bit of whiskey or bourbon.

Anyway, I am thinking of buying a bottle but its about $100. Does anyone know if it varies much from batch to batch? Also, at $100 it’s in the range of the Don Julio 1942 which I’ve heard all of you rave about.

Any thoughts on the tequila? For a point of reference, I love the ArteNom Silver (1079) and Anejo (1146) and disliked the Tesoro Reposado (way too smoky for me).

Thanks

Scott

Have you tried Maestro Dobel?

Kris

I haven’t tried the Maestro Dobel – it looks like a clear aged tequila, is that right?

Is it worth seeking out?

thanks

It’s a blend of Anejo and Extra Anejo filtered clear. Had never had it til we got it in a few weeks ago. Worth a try IMO.

+1. One of my faves.

Casa Noble single barrel is my current favorite, I’ve not made it past my first bottle yet so I can’t speak about the consistency. It has a chocolate oak character that is distinctive. I like 1942 quite a bit too, but I think it has less oak influence. Other faves are Casa Noble Repo, the NOM 1179 1921 Repo (hard to find these days) and Forteleza Anjeo.

Calling Rob Winn…

I’ll have to keep an eye out for the Maestro – it sounds like something I’d like.

David – those mirror my thoughts. The single barrel is really distinctive. I think it was the oak influence that made me think of bourbon. I had it next to the herradura selection suprema and preferred the casa noble

I was steered towards the San Matias Gran Reserva extra anejo (100% agave) which I enjoyed as well. It was pretty rich but not as distinctive as the casa noble single barrel.

Just picked up a bottle of the single barrel and tasted it against the ArteNom and the San Matias. The single barrel was significantly more enjoyable. Actually had the most agave nature to it – not marred by wood at all. Delicious!

On to the Maestro.
