I miss being able to taste the current release every year. Has anyone had one or both of these vintages who has thoughts on how they compare to other vintages? Very general impressions of quality and/or style are fine with me. More detail would be great too.
I have not had anything since the 2010…I’ve fallen off on tasting/knowing these wines for the last 2-3 releases. Price is going up too. ssrp on these seems to be $58-$62 now.
Tasted both but only one bottle of each.
14 felt austere and backwards, needs air and time.
15 showed much more generous fruit straight after opening and just got better and better.
Also, from what I hear, things are not going so well at the winery these days due to very difficult times in Lebanon. They released a lot of back vintages here the last year or so and I hear it was done to keep the company afloat.
Musar Jeune is a serious step-down from Musar. It’s like saying Gevrey-Chambertin is the same as Chambertin. Sure there’s some similarities, but one is not the same as the other.
I believe what he is saying is that you can get good coupons for Wineaccess, that often lower the effective price per bottle to somewhere around 35-40/bottle.
Thanks for that. I try to only buy bottles that come through Broadbent because I’ve had much better luck with those (compared to various other sources; I have not bought from wineaccess), but maybe that will change.
It would be tragic. Though when you learn about the things they’ve endured these last 50+ years, you have to be hopeful they can weather the new challenges.
