In 2012 DRC produced a special bottling from the best and oldest vines in Romanee Conti. A luxury cuvĆ©e if you will, to separate your normal, run-of-the-mill DRC drinker from those that really matter. They called it ā€œthe spotā€. Distribution was extremely limited. Even wine critics donā€™t know about it. No one is supposed to even mention it. Wilson Daniels only got 4 bottles for the entire country and I got 3 of them. It appears that youā€™ve been offered a bottle.

I drank mine last year. It was corked.

Their idea to monetize on the ā€œpumpkin spiceā€ trend was ill advised.

Am I the only one who thinks the one on the right looks a little fake?

Brian - Good catch. Yes, the smudging on the second dot in ā€˜A.d. Villaineā€™ on the far right bottle is not correct & an obvious give away.

BTW, Iā€™ve always understood from European relatives the other meaning of Tache to be ā€˜stainā€™ not ā€˜spotā€™.
