Thermoelectric Wine Coolers?

I am replacing my wine refrigerator and looking at different options. I was wondering what people thought of this as an option versus a compressor? I am looking for a freestanding wine cooler that will hold 150+ bottles and fit into a fairly tight cabinet space. I think my last wine fridge died because there was not enough air circulation around the unit. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

From previous Wine Cooler/Fridge research that I did, it seems like they don’t make Thermoelectric for anything larger than 36 bottles. I would be surprised if you found a thermoelectric for 150 bottles. For your tight cabinet space, you may want to find a wine cooler that is “built-in” not freestanding as those ones will have the vents and fans for the cooling system in the front as opposed to the back for freestanding ones.

I have a Dometic 170 bottle unit that I bought in 2009 and it has been great. Completely silent, maintains proper humidity, and has been worry-free.

However, I fear that this info will be of no use to anyone since I don’t think Dometic makes these anymore.

Even with Thermoelectric you’ll need space behind the fridge for the heat to dissipate I thought. Also TE needs to be in area that the temperature does not really fluctuate that much and is already in an ideal temperature range…

I would look into what Adam suggested.

Great point on the TE needing to be in an area that doesn’t fluctuate. That was one issue of why I had to go with traditional cooler, even though the noise can be an issue. TE are supposed to be great for running with very little noise.
