Been missing from Texas (and the rest of the US of A) for several years due to some tax issues the distillery had. Now, my favourite Tequila is back and available on American soil. I made a kick ass margarita esta noche.
Back in the Mid-Nineties Andre Agassi used to bring me a case of empty Porfidio bottles every couple weeks and I would cut them down, polish the tops and make glasses with the cactus in them for him. He drank so much of the stuff it was unreal, Now we find out those were his meth days. Pretty cool margi glass though.

I’m not trying to be rude, but how much do you know of the back story and do you have any links to it? I’ve heard that some of the issues had led to a change in the sourcing, but I admit I have nothing concrete on that.
It’s currently available in NY, I’ll have to follow up with my rep.
All I know is from word of mouth from retailers here. What I was told is they did not pay taxes here in the US.
Agree, this blanco is phenomenal and well worth the price.
The “back story” is a lot more involved than having not paid taxes in the U.S. I haven’t seen a bottle recently but the last batch I saw didn’t qualify to be called Tequila - they could only use “Agave Spirit”, or something like that.
Ok, so now that Richard has seconded my concerns has anyone tasted it recently and do you notice a change from the old stuff 10+ yrs ago?
