The Doritos and Cheetos threads got me thinking about my FAVORITE snack food. One so deadly to me, so irresistible that I simply don’t allow it in the house anymore.
Potato chips and French Onion Dip.
I could literally eat myself into several consecutive heart attacks.
The only ‘snack’ foods I’ve eaten in the last almost 50 years are dry sausages and cheeses. Although I will admit to a weakness for some carbo snacks lately - Just Crisps in several flavors from a place on Melrose in LA and sold at Bristol Farms, as well as now TJ’s Parmesan Crisps.
I could eat almost anything that is considered snack/junk food til the bag or box is empty but I don’t buy it because of that. We keep dark chocolate M&M’s & some unsalted or very lightly salted nuts when we have a hankering and the M&M’s are good w/ wine, an occasional gummy lifesaver but it messes with wine flavors.
I haven’t made this at home in a LONG time because of that. One bucket of sour cream wouldn’t survive two days in my fridge with onion soup mix mixed in it. Scary and thank gawd I can’t remember the last time I’ve done that.
When you’re right, you’re right. I was just telling a friend the other day how I can’t stop eating these damn things. I try to only buy the raw ones now which I eat slower. Turns out the health benefits are starting to be realized at least. In the old days when fat was the enemy these were on the bad lists.
For me, it’s peanut butter. I have been known to stand at the sink at 11:00 pm., with a peanut butter jar in my left hand, a long handled spoon in my right, enjoying a little love fest. I eventually had to break it off and peanut butter has never crossed my threshold again… … . sob
