“Previously, the date was always in November,” according to the article. But this isn’t true. It was sometimes in September. The famous Trier wine auctions of the late 19th and early 20th century were in the spring.

In fact I think it has been in November only 2 times (maybe 3) in recent times.
A bit nitpicking as I think what they basically meant was it has always been in the Fall (except in the 1800s evidently lol).
Not really - if you are going to report on something simple things should be correct.
The point was they moved it from the third Friday in September to November because of harvest.
No one’s harvesting (significantly) in November even though the article infers that.

Thanks for the link. I forwarded it to a friend, who also pointed out that he thinks this move was partly done “to delay the next auction during a time of market stress” and that the harvests are actually “coming earlier and interfering with traditional end-summer or September events.”
