Just saw the newest Wine Spectator Insider Newsletter and it rates the new Moet & Chandon offering: Brut Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon Oenothèque Commande Spéciale 1975 at 97 pts and $1,500.00. Seems like the perfect time to offer up such rare and pricy bottle of bubbly.
I’d offer to split some with you, but I know you can handle that all on your own…Big Boy. [big_boss.gif]
Maybe we can pop a bottle to celebrate Manny’s pending suspension.
are they offering any 6L’s?
I’m buying… I hear they have nice OWC 3 packs…
BTW, a generous friend shared a 1990 Oenotheque in January at a dinner and I was really disappointed… Not worth the money the 1990 Dom was much tastier… It’s just a label if you ask me…
I heard someone else mention the exact same thing. Nice to know as a local shop has the 1990 Oeno for $199 and I have been passing, now I will continue to do so. Thanks!
Not just a label, but a different disgorgement date.
'90 Oeno is one of the weaker Oeno vintages.
For a relatively inexpensive Oeno that delivers far above it original disgorgement counterpart, try the '95. The strength of the $ now allows it to be purchased for under $200/btl.
As far as the '75 Oeno, it was released about 18 months ago at around $1500 and is a great bottle of champagne with no resemblance to the '75 original disgorgemnt. Again, because of the stregnth of the $ it can now be found overseas for $1,000 or so. No, it’s still not cheap, but for 99% of the people who drink wine, $50/btl is a ridiculous price, so it’s all relative.
$199 seems like a good price for that is it not? It’s normally $80-100+ higher a bottle.
