Have you ever tried White Merlot from the FLX? I know a guy…
Those who have suggested Mollydooker wines are spot on. They are repugnant, gruesome, twisted contrivances of horror specifically designed to sicken and scandalise lovers of fine things.
I’m enjoying this thread, spewing invective is fun!
Cheers,
David.
Rombauer chardonnay - no comment necessary
Domaine Tempier Bandol - a fecal mess
Mas de Daumas Gassac - tannic beyond belief
Silver Oak Napa - we all know about this one
On the flip side, Domaine d’Andezon CdR, 1995, after five years of cellaring. Glorious.
Ray, although I don’t dislike it as much as you do, I find Pegau Capo to be too much for me, although I tend to like the Cuvee Reserve. For some reason, when I first tried Capo I thought it was pretty neat…probably the novelty of the concentration, maybe like the first time you have cotton candy as a kid…
Cheers!
Well, I’m not sure that any “fine” wine I’ve tasted is “shockingly awful,” but I was amazed (in a bad way) by a bottle of Greenock Creek Shiraz (can’t remember the particular cuvee or vintage, but I understand that it got 100 points from Mr. Parker) that I found to be way over the top, pruney, yuk.
In a similar vein, I tried the 03 El Nido at a wine tasting dinner semi-recently. Again, horrible pruney, over the top. Also, oak oak oak and oak. I went back to bogarting the 87 Lopez de Heredia Gran Reserva Tondonia that I brought to the dinner, and was very happy.
Two Herman Story reds – I think these were both '06s, a Grenache and a Syrah. I have no idea what anyone sees in these wines. It tasted like I had taken a sip of wine from grapes that had turned to raisins on the vines that had been fortified with bourbon. I felt like I was breathing fire afterward. I didn’t even want what was left in the bottles for free.

I like the Herman Story wines, so you obviously are wrong.
All kidding aside, his 2007s are awesome.
6 years ago, a single vineyard Oregon pinot from Sineann. I was 22, and even with almost no experience I knew enough to recognize spoofilation.
Honorary mention to a 2005 V. Girardin Savigny Serpentiers, which was so badly brett-and-other-bugs infected that the cork came out with a pop and it tasted, literally, like diarrhea.

“Domaine Tempier Bandol - a fecal mess
Mas de Daumas Gassac - tannic beyond belief”
Two of my favorite wines…
We recently tasted some “Ribero del Duero” that was seriously trying to be Mollydooker and it was vile plus plus
1997 Harlan…VA made it totally undrinkable.
2003 Clos de Papes…Is Parker nuts?
I don’t really like da Capo either.
Oh, you are nuts. N-V-T-S, nuts!

2003 Sloan Estate
2004 Rhys Alesia Syrah Chileno Valley
My brother’s favorites. Loves those Mollydookers to the extent that he traveled to Australia to visit with Sparky Marquis. Hard to believe we share the same gene pool.
I’ll raise whoever said El Nido Clio to El Nido El Nido. ![]()

Cheers.
Agree on the Tempier. Surprised to see it listed several times
Hello Mark,
A fifty-percent coefficient of relatedness with someone who likes Mollydooker is even more worrying than my familial aesthetic failures. When my father last visited London I popped a bottle of Domaine Arlaud Morey 1er Cru Millandes 2005. His comment, “It’s a bit strong”. When speaking at Christmas he told me how much he enjoyed his £1.99 (~$3.20) litre bottle of Leibfraumilch with his turkey roll… hmmm… OK, I’m clearly wrong here, liking Mollydooker is far, far less shameful than drinking Liebfraumilch and eating turkey roll for an event which is supposed to be themed on dissolute excess.
I was tricked into my first taste of Mollydooker, they are just such hideously contrived wines of total awfulness.
Cheers,
David.
Not at all.
Parker…97 pts
CT avg…92.7 pts
My score…85 pts
It’s crap.
2004 Futo - God awful plonk
I think it was the '05, if you’re talking about the one at the CLONYC Ghost Horse dinner. But I don’t think it was in the same league as the '02 Shirvington Shiraz.
