The finest bagel I have ever tasted

Better even than H and H before they got taken over.

Teaneck Road Hot Bagels in Teaneck. Even Food and Wine magazine agrees!

I had the good fortune to grow up 3 blocks away, but it was a bit of a double-edged sword as now any other bagel just tastes awful.

Best in Midtown is Utopia ( agreement with Yaacov who recommended it)

Geographically undesirable from Pelham…

The data compiled on this site represents the most comprehensive bagel survey of New York City ever attempted.

I’m a big Ess-A-Bagel fan. Always thought H and H was overrated.

Are those bagels sweet?

Some sugar is the recipe, but not sweet. Not leaden

Agree!

I buy them from Goldbelly when they are on sale

I used to live on Country Club Rd in Teaneck!

Great memories of Butterflake Bakery

I’ll have to check it out. My spot is River Road Hot Bagels in Fair Lawn.

Thanks. There was a place nearby that had “Montreal-style” bagels. I found them a titch sweet, but my sister loved them.

As an ex-Montrealer I can tell you the best Montreal style bagels I have ever had were in Vancouver (somewhere in the Granville Island market)

There is however no acceptable smoked meat outside of Quebec.

Bagel Nosh in Waldwick, NJ didn’t disappoint in the 90’s. Haven’t been there since then…. Looks like they are still going strong today.

Boichik bagels in Berkeley CA

My office was a block north on third avenue. Waiting on line with the tourists with Fodors in hand was a waste, but if you knew to just walk in, get a bagel as it came out of the oven, and pay for it as you left, they were absolutely the best. Especially with the iffy Kashrut certification.
