The Best NYC Pizza. Who could argue?

The NYT says these are the best pies. Dissent will not be brooked

Those pictures are terrific and instantly made me hungry

That said, the list is invalid as they didn’t list Michael Scott’s favorite Sbarro’s

Is this supposed to be the best of glass case pizza you buy from the street? Because none of those look very appealing. Certainly don’t measure up to the best I’ve had in NYC, or frankly anywhere.

You just specialize in being confidently wrong, don’t you? :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, tell me any of those things with solid, burnt cheese, are great pizza?

Flour + Water Pizzeria in North Beach was really good, esp. the Caci e Pepe.

I could slaughter most of those. Made me hungry

Haven’t been there in some time, certainly not since they moved out of Mission area. They do some pretty good pizza, and pastas.

That list does have Una Pizza Napoletana, which is supposedly the best pizza in the entire world.

Huh. Maybe this is why Bianco in PHX (“downtown”, not the satellites) is/was so well-regarded. The Roberta’s looked halfway decent; the rest, OK if plain cheese pizza is regarded as adult fare.

Missed that. I ate at his place in SF when he was personally making each pizza. Was pretty good, but not clearly superior to dozens of pizzas I’ve had other places. The whole notion of “best pizza” is patently ridiculous. Pizza has a pretty low upper limit of “best”, and lots of places meet that threshold in my experience

We also are at his SF place, it was good but I found the cornice aka crust to be too large. We preferred Pizzeria Delfina and Flour and Water.

It’s not surprising at all I guess but the majority of these look like my stereotype of a New York cheese pizza and not what shows up on the “Pizza!” Epicurean topic, with the slightly but lovingly irregular shapes and dark spots and creative toppings. My favorite pizza places are all more like the latter, even if I respect and occasionally enjoy a good NY slice.

Yeah, it’s not adult pizza unless you can get stuffed crust with pineapple and bbq sauce.

I was underwhelmed when I ate there.

There was no Ops, Lucali, L"Industrie, Pasquale Jones, etc. on that list.

Didn’t work for me then-works now.
