CellarTracker is by far my favorite. If only I could remember to keep it updated with what I’ve consumed!
I’ve actually built a platform for exactly this - VaultSomm (vaultsomm.com). It’s collection management and valuation software built for serious collectors, so instead of just logging bottles and tasting notes like CellarTracker, it’s focused on tracking provenance, current market valuation, and documentation you’d need for insurance or estate planning purposes.

Does a user continue to use CT and then just upload the CT export when reporting or AI functionality is needed?
Are the wine details such as producer, wine name, AVA, vineyard, etc from a CT upload visible to other users?

You can either use them in tandem or depending on your needs, just upload your full cellar into VaultSomm and track your cellar there going forward. We’ve made it easy to upload your cellar with our import tool with instructions (Migrate from CellarTracker to VaultSomm — Step-by-Step Guide | VaultSomm) on how to export from CT. Once uploaded, you’ll receive quarterly updates on valuations, a full dashboard of regions, values, etc.- Everything is private. We don’t sell ads or your information. It’s your private dashboard. Do you use CellarTracker’s data to fuel your platform? What, if anything, does your software do better? I don’t care about valuation reports (those are easy to obtain).
I just use claude.
Fair question. No - VaultSomm doesn’t use CellarTracker’s data. Their database is theirs. Our market data comes from auction results and retail/exchange market data, and the cellar itself is whatever you enter (import) or scan in.
On what we do better: a few things. Adding bottles is faster - scan the label and you’re done, no hunting through database entries. Valuations are tied to actual market data (auction and retail/exchange) rather than user-reported purchase prices, so the numbers track what the market is doing on a quarterly basis, not what someone paid in 2011. And the whole thing is built around the collection as an asset: per-bottle cost / valuation basis and provenance, insurance-ready schedules, and estate documentation that holds up when someone other than you - an insurer, an attorney, your heirs - has to make sense of the cellar. We’ve also built in intelligent market tools with regional databases of market trends, and an AI sommelier to help answers questions about your cellar.
CellarTracker is great at community tasting notes. But if you’ve ever tried to get a collection properly scheduled on a policy or through an estate from a spreadsheet export, that’s one of the gaps we’re filling.

I have an app that I’ve put together that I’d say is catered to home use. It provides a visual layout for your cellar(s) and it has a lot of AI features where it generates summaries and drinking window recommendations for each bottle, and ability to ask any food pairing/general questions on your collection. It has vineyard level maps for certain regions and will display your collection and wishlist on the map. I like to use this browsing for new bottles online or in a shop.
I’ve set this up to be a proper app with billing etc, but this is brand new. If any of you would like to try it out for a while please just send me a message and I can disable the billing until it hopefully catches on.
