The Agave Thread: Tequila & Mezcal

Lucky you. My Fortaleza Repo is corked. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::cry:

Finally found some Green Chartreuse so I can make some twists on Last Word with Mezcal.

I need to figure out what to make with Chartreuse Elixir (bitters).

Couple ideasā€¦use it to cook with in desserts, or for cocktails a Oaxacan Old Fashioned, a Last Word variant with overproof rum, mezcal, or tequila.

The grocery storeā€™s stash of Fortaleza was somewhat depleted today, had plenty of Blanco and also some Blanco Still Strength.

Still Strength is delicious. Iā€™d clear the shelf at MSRP.

Is it that different than the regular Blanco (also delicious). I was guessing it was just similar to the regular at 46% rather than 40%,

But Al wonā€™t ship!

Its a big difference in flavor profile and texture.

Arenā€™t many good high proof Blancos out there, basically Fortaleza, G4, and Terralta.

Maybe Iā€™ll buy a bottle if it stays in stock. Not sure how much I need a high proof Blanco, though maybe it will scratch an itch.

Al is too much of a Boy Scout to ship booze.

Made a riff on The Last Word, little more Mezcal as I donā€™t like sweeter cocktails.

2oz. 400 Conejos Mezcal
1oz. Maraschino Liqueur
1oz. Chartreuse
1oz. lime juice

Killer.

Made a 3/4th version with Vida. pretty good, still a bit sweet.

What are they charging for it down there?

Found a small liquor store in an out of the way town, picked up another Fortaleza Reposado, and El Tesoro reposado single barrel. I really donā€™t need more tequila lol.

Blanco $55 usd

Still $70

Interesting, not cheaper there.

In Tequila too.

La Capilla has 80-90 y/o Fortaleza Reposado they donā€™t sell to customers!

Can you move to Cognac next?
