The 25 Best Cocktail Bars in America

…as per GQ Magazine.

Congrats to La Descarga in LA for being on their list of Best Spirit-Specific Cocktail Bars… a Cuban speakeasy w excellent rum drinks. One of the best bars in LA, IMHO.

Zig Zag!

No Copa D’Oro? Fail…

I went to Death & Co. when I visited NYC last year: it was very good … but not as good as the Anyway Café (Manhattan) that we followed it up with. (Anyway’s Romanoff Bloody Martini is fucking to die for!!! flirtysmile I had 3, and could have had them all night long if I wasn’t concerning about things like waking up for the next day and being able to see — they use three different infused vodkas (horseradish, black pepper, and (???) and float a bunch of red pepper seeds in that sucker — astonishingly good … and each subsequent one was stronger than the one prior!)

The girl in the picture for Columbia Room in D.C. (#18) kinda looks like our Poppy!

I can’t wait for Grant Achatz’s new cocktail bar Aviary to open in Chicago. Should be some amazing creations.

While these lists are always fun, they are never accurate.

Without fail, they never include anything from the twin cities. The twin cities has a vibrant food and social scene. As an example, Bradstreet Crafthouse makes their own bitters (9 kinds that I am aware of) and they are doing everything else right. They have ice presses from Japan to get spherical ice cubes about the size of a racquetball ball, or large slender rectangular ones to put into highball glasses. To watch the bartenders there is a treat. But apparently to everyone in the magazine industry, minnesota is flyover country.

Eastern Standard in Boston is a great bar, agree completely with that one. Never heard of Drink in Boston, I will have to check it out next time I go back.
