That dishwasher smell, possibly fixed

Anyone who’s been around me and an affected wine glass knows I bitch about this more than the rest of the world combined. I have been looking for a solution for years but all my research has lead to innumerable answers blaming everything including the actual atmosphere. But for the first time I came across someone who suggested it’s the soap. Maybe it’s the blind squirrel inevitably finding a nut but I decided to make my own soap (borax, washing soda, citric acid, and salt per Martha Stewart).

It seems to have worked. One drawback is it didn’t scrub off the deposits left behind from evaporation in my water glass that I refill 20+ times until it clearly needs to be washed, but that and a measuring cup were the only things not as clean as an abrasives-containing powder would make them. But there is no smell at all. Completely neutral. And if I can banish another commercial cleaning product that leaves unknown chemical residues for me to ingest, even better. I won’t have wine glasses to try for a few weeks but I’m confident.
