TH - 2000 Girardin Clos de la Roche

Opened the 2000 Vincent Girardin Clos de la Roche. Dark red but almost brick color, a quick taste was tart with little fruit. Decanted for 30 minutes and then revisited. Fruit woke-up: strawberry, leather, and some darker fruit which is becoming more pronounced over the meal. Balanced and the finish continues to improve. Still a level of freshness while it adds weight. Very enjoyable.

sounds great.

Interesting, I tend to only go white with Girardin.

Did you get any hints of whole cluster fermentation?

Think Vincent was pretty thoroughly destemming back then, no?

I am not discriminant enough to guess if there was any whole cluster or not but there was some very light pepper.
