I had the Project M Riesling at Thistle a few weeks ago. If that is what an inaugural vintage tastes like, this is winery to watch. I don’t know what the rest of the lineup tastes like.

I agree with a number of others listed. I will look up some of Todd’s suggestions. There are a few new ones to me in his list.

Project M is a good reco too. And their sister project Nasty Woman wines.

Have enjoyed following this thread and have tried to keep up with the Oregon wine scene, although purchases have generally been those with a track record with a few exceptions (morgen long for instance). But remarkable how rapidly it has expanded the last few years. So many places that are totally unfamiliar, including those that are truly teeny tiny 2-300 cases/year) and those much larger (6-8000/yr like Day and Fullerton). A couple thoughts.

1. Where is all this wine going? Are they primarily tasting room sales, or somewhere else? Many appear to be $30-45 at the low end, so competing for a fairly small part of the market.

2. A couple of things caught my eye and I’m looking forward to trying them.

• Championship bottle. I have a gravity’s pull Chardonnay on deck for consumption in the near future.
• The color collector. I don’t have much experience with gamay but interesting project and story.

Anyone else have any new discoveries that you are looking forward to trying?

I’m not going to touch point 1, other than to say that the only reason I can exist at 4500 cases without dealing with what Todd talks about, is the $20-25 Willamette Valley wines.

But to point 2, here’s my view of what I am excited to try:

New wines from Ovum, Franny Beck, and Morgen Long

Project M-Jerry Murray has been making top tier wines for a number of well known wineries for a long time(Patton Valley and Van Duzer, plus a few others). He’s always had a deft touch, and the confidence to make wines with an individual nature(which becomes more and more important to me)

Mellen-Meyer and Lundeen sparkling: because it’s really good…

Violin, Vincent, and Championship Bottle: These are in my regular buy(or trade).

Reviewed these Project M wines for the Newbie Palooza today. Really enjoyed them. Recommend you take a look at their offering.

That is now my current oldest Willamette Valley bottle in my cellar purchased on release(so not including recent Herbfarm purchases).

I keep meaning to open it and then just decide to keep it a bit longer.

FWIW, Chris Barnes is the owner of Chris James Cellars and is likely the one who recommended the winery. While my name is Chris James, I have no connection or affiliation with the winery beyond coincidentally having the same name. I can’t even say that I’m flattered for them naming the winery after me.

Hey Max here are a couple more: Arabilis Winery and Falcon Stoop Winery. I moved my production to Björnson as you know and these two wineries are there…. Hadn’t heard of them before. Very impressed with Arabilis’s sparkling projects in particular. Falcon Stoop’s first year was 2020, just a few barrels. Tough year to launch a Pinot, but the Auxerois is pretty nice.
