Teeny Tiny Wineries of... Oregon

Kidding. The correct answer is Goodfellow.

Yes, because we are such picturesque industrial building next to the train tracks…

Stoller is very nice. Goodfellow would be happy to host them but it’s not really a good time unless you’re really a wine geek.

Edit: Actually they should also check out Evan Martin’s new place in McMinnville called Lo-Fi.

I was actually at Evesham Wood tasting room when a Bachelorette party rolled in on their first (?) stop of many adventures. The resident Somm, Chris, was mildly horrified and politely suggested they opt for the shorter tasting selection since they already seemed “bubbly.”

My wife would opt for getting married at Goodfellow Cellars if we weren’t already married. Perhaps we’ll spend our 10th year honeymoon there.

Todd has a professional kitchen in his tasting room! Plenty of room for food, wine and a guy in a banana hammock.

We are talking about Marcus now. Focus Brig, focus.

Hi Tim,

Looking forward to seeing you next Month in Amity. Jeff scheduled this recently. If you have any preference for bringing lunch with you I am happy to arrange seating etc so you can enjoy your meals while we taste. You will need about 15 minutes to get from Amity to the Harper Voit tasting house in McMinnville, so we can taste for an hour, which is plenty to get through four or five wines. To Chris’s point, I have a bad habit of not adhering to time constraints for many customers. Cheers and thanks for your interest in visiting!

That’s very kind of you. Thanks so much. We will take you up on your kind offer with the hope that you will join us for lunch too. I will take this ‘off line’, but assuming that is OK, ask Jeff or Jonathan to help coordinate and get your order (on us!) placed ahead of time. We are very excited and looking forward to our visit.

Start at Goodfellow but end up at Heater Allen…

I would suggest Soter as a nice choice- robust bubbles program and definitely the high class tasting experience.

Anyone looking for this summer should have a back up plan though. Current Covid restrictions limit groups in all restaurants and tasting rooms to 6 people or less, with a maximum of 2 households in any group.

Good call, Meggan. All jokes aside, and assuming COVID restrictions are lifted, any large winery would usually be happy to host a party if, if, if plans are made in advance. I worked at the Lumos tasting room for several years and even small places would love to accommodate with advance planning so that you can tailor the event (focus of a social event with an open bar? or with wine education? Food? Etc). Larger wineries will also have the benefit of offering a larger variety of styles from bubbles and even a few sweeter wines for the novices; and also food options. Not sure which part of the Valley you are looking at but in addition to Soter, I would think Eola Hills Winery (insist on the vineyard location), Willamette Valley Winery, King Estate, Argyle would be very happy to host a party. On the higher end, I’ll bet Domaine Serene and perhaps Domaine Drouhin would as well? They certainly have the space. At any rate, not too much of a teeny, tiny winery topic [wow.gif] Good luck!

What hasn’t been mentioned is that Patricia Green Cellars has a beautiful new tasting room with gorgeous surrounding landscaping. And Jim Anderson would make a dashingly charming host to any Bachelorette party. flirtysmile

Sorry for a bit of thread drift - thank you all.

I am a delight.

  • understatement of the year…

Would actually pay money to watch the encounter [popcorn.gif]

Just returned from our first trip to Willamette Valley. Highlights of the trip were visits with Marcus at Goodfellows and Bethel Heights. Looking forward to our next trip sometime next year and this thread is very educational. Since I am new to Oregon wineries, their “ big” wineries are also new and interesting to me. Can anyone point me to a list of recommended wineries or a thread similar to this one? Maybe a spreadsheet of the bigger wineries like the one Max made would be awesome as well. Cheers.

Was cool to see Nic Cage pour a Cameron rouge in his new movie “Pig.” Couldn’t see vintage or cuvee, but clearly a Cameron label. The film is set in Portland and the Oregon wilderness.

Had a nice tasting of Martin Woods wines with Evan Martin and Ben Denton earlier this month. Tasting was at Evan’s beautiful HiFi Wine Bar in McMinnville, which should be opening in a few weeks. Love the Pinots and Chard, although the Gamay, Gruner and Rose were excellent as well. Highly recommended. Also visited some non-Teeny Tinies, including Antica Terra, Colene Clemons, Hiyu and Analemma. All were different experiences, but all worth a visit.

Sounds great. Can’t wait to see how the wine bar turns out.

I dig all of Evan’s wines, but have been most impressed by his Riesling, Gamay and Cab Franc. Interested to see how his Chardonnay program evolves.
