Let’s get some wines going in either of the suggested directions. If it starts to lean one way we can ewither change all that direction or just leave as is.
My collection is not as venerable as everyone else’s, but to follow on Jay’s idea I could offer a mini-vertical, of 2000 and 2001 Pontet Canet? Or I’ve got 2001 Cos if people want to go the 1st and 2nds only route.
If we’re insisting on pre-2000, my older stuff tends to be of the less high-falutin’ type - but I’m happy to bring as part of what I’m bringing any or all of the following: 1991 BV Rutherford cab, 1995 Ch. Rouget, 1998 Mondavi Oakville.
Let me know if some combination of the above would work for you guys…
Is there a theme for this table? My cellar tends to be all over the place and completely random until you get to 2000, so if someone can just pick a theme I will try to come up with something and if that doesn’t work, I’ll poke around and source a bottle. Unless someone wants a 1975 Bordeaux horizontal with Conseillante, two Firsts and a Gruaud. I could do all four of those if my wife can come to justify bringing 4 bottles.
Or I could offer the 1973 Simi Zinfandel, which I always seem to threaten to bring.
we are at 10. Looks like the remaining will either be here or at the pinot table, since no one else is allowed at Table 3. If we have 12, we can just steal some duck from one of the 10 tops.
So can I bring my wife also? I still have no idea what wine to bring. I’ll wait and see what the rest of you want and then see what I have that matches. Unless someone wants to declare a theme.
Jay, as far as your wife go’s it’s not our decision…there are 45 seats for 45 people. Now regarding the wine, I thought we said this is a older bdx/cal cab table. Just bring some good stuff.
