I don’t have much older Bordeaux, would you guys be ok with 2000 Pontet Canet? Or I could bring the 01 Pontet Canet instead if you think it will be drinking better. The only thing from the 90s I have is 95 Ch. Rouget, which I don’t think will be up to snuff for this, but if you guys prefer to stick within 80s and 90s… or I could see what I can source.
Will add you to the list. not sure of direction yet. waiting for more to join and then getting a consesus. I may have to source as well. older bordx/cali bordx blend are always great.
Uh Oh! looks like I may be stuck at this table since no one organized a table with wine that has flavor. Since Whitehead didn’t like the 1975 Conseillante or the 1975 Latour because it wasn’t a great vintage, I could offer you an entire flight representing a Gruaud Larose verticle (I think I have 66, 70, 75 and 96). I don’t have a lot of older Cali Cabs but I think I have a 1989 Guenoc Beckstoffer Vineyard. Anyone ever have a Beckstoffer that old? And then there’s the 1997 DM of La Chapelle, but it’s too young. Or I could bring some fortified sauce for the finish in case anyone is still standing. It’s about time to crack open my first 1994 Fonseca.
Whoa…hold on. Doing a vertical is an interesting idea. As far as Gruaud Larose go’s I have the 79 and 86. I also have a ton of old port if you like…the 77’s are drinking really good right now.
Since this table is open I guess I am here. Love the older brdx theme and with animated Jay it is sure to be a great table. My oldest brdx is an 89 Pavie Macquin, otherwise I might have to source.
I added my tentative bottles. At this point anything bordx/cali bordx blend 70s/80s or rhone pre 2000 would work. Basically wines that don’t suck. I added a chard mag as the starter.
