T/N: Bedrock - a red and a white for Peter T.

  • 2011 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Evangelho Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County (12/13/2014)
First taste 60 minutes after opening. This is a dark red wine. It’s elegant, smooth, and easy to drink. Can’t complain. Drank with family at our Hanukkah party. Dinner was flanken (pot roast). (90 pts.)
  • 2012 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Compagni Portis - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (12/13/2014)
Didn’t smell any fruit this time, but tasted grapefruit. A hint of sweetness. Nice white/yellow color. Really smooth and fun to drink with non-Geeks. Drank this at our Hanukkah party. This was the last of my 4 bottles. I’ve always been a fan of this vineyard and producer. (90 pts.)

Thanks for the great notes! I looked back to see if I had any of either bottling, but both were ripped through early on. I only tasted one of the Evangelho, and really liked it for what it was and what it represents. One of the more “conundrum” wines I’ve had…seemed to constantly morph in the glass.

The Compagni Portis…4 bottles gone within 8 months of delivery. Agree with your point re: “fun to drink with non-Geeks”. I think that comment applies to many if not most of the Bedrock offerings. Though I also find that my wine geek friends are likewise “wow’d”

Cheers,
Jim
