Hello all,
I’m looking at Symbolic Wines online as a potential place to source some wines. I live in Los Angeles so the thought of a somewhat nearby wine shop appeals.
Has anyone purchased from Symbolic before? How was the process? Any concerns I should be aware of?
Best,
Tommy
Funny timing. I almost posted a similar request this morning, but then realized they won’t ship to me. I’d be all over 2015 Emidio Pepe MdA at $90.
Yes, they have quite the stock across the range! I just have never heard of them, and it is tough to find any reviews online as it appears as if they do t have a storefront.
It’s 4 miles from my house. I’ve not heard of them. The location is in an industrial park not a retail storefront. There are some long time wine resellers about a mile from it. Perhaps it’s a spin off by a former employee of one them

Definitely new, they’re not in Google maps. Wonder if it’s the La Costa guy.
I’m down there Thursday, I’ll try and do a drive by and report in.

I was thinking possible a former employee of Grand Cru liquid assets or GRW
If this is the company, it looks like they have been around for a long time.

Yes, that is them I believe. The dba app Lai cation also evidences they’ve been around for awhile. Just seems odd that no one has heard of them. Someone must be buying from them if they are still in business.
Very odd. Will ask around as Id think someone would know him in the local wine community. He has lived in the same home since 98 so he has been around for a while
That would be fantastic. I have some feelers out as well. The Instagram for the company shows the owner with several heads of high end estates around the world. Seems like he is working legitimately but just want to do some more DD. I normally buy from Woodland Hills Wine, and Symbolic had many burgs I’d be interested in but want to be sure I’m buying the seller as much as the wine.
don’t know them. Clumsy web site. Hard to search. Didn’t see any buys. Curious what burgs you found.
Agree website is tough to navigate. From their website though, just clicking through, lots of DRC, Comte de Vouge, Arnaud, Anne gross, some Faively, some older vintage bez, and some arlot RSV. White burgs seem to be less featured.
BTW - I was unable to do a drive by
I will try to when I get a chance
Thank you all. Really appreciate it. I have a call set up with them to learn more as well. Will report back.
Send them this thread. These are their people.
Bump. Anything to report from the follow-up?
Yes, I was able to meet and speak with an employee at the shop. Very nice outfit. Clean and well taken care of. They appear to be in the process of getting their ABC license, so that they can have both a wine bar and wine shop on premises. Right now, the inventory is in secure storage at 55 degrees and an ideal humidity. The website is only a small portion of their inventory. They are looking to expand into the US customer base after historically focusing on the overseas market (Eastern Europe and Asia) and were very helpful in recommending nice additions to my cellar. I also spoke with a few wineries I am close to who also spoke highly of the owner. In the end, I elected to purchase some wine from them, and was happy with the process. I will be back to purchase more.
