Wines

1991 Clos de Goisses
2000 DRC La Tache
1982 Pichon Lalande

The CdG had a pleasing yeasty and nutty finish, crisp, clean. Showing development, but very well balanced.

The La Tache was all asian spice and pepper. we noted a slight green note initially, which blew off over time. Balanced, elegant, and textural velvet. Nose was muted at first, but blossomed from the glass over time. A combination of red and dark berry fruits interlaced with spice and pepper.

The 82 Pichon Lalande started off with its tell-tale funk. But when the funk is gone, the wine is on and after being opened for awhile, really started to strut. Dried fruit, sous-bois, elegant texture. Amply juiciness, firm, but ripe and well integrated tannins. Pencil lead, dark berry fruits, and mouth caressing texture… While showing the benefits of age, the fruit remained sufficiently fresh to provide a nice counterpoint to the secondary and tertiary notes that developed in the palate and nose with time. Showing very well, but still has the structure and concentration to withstand more time in the cellar.

Very nice wines Scott. Did you decant you PLL?

No, but we should of… Erin Clary (Jim and Sheila’s daughter) was being a little fussy and had an upset tummy… so they were focusing on her and trying to get her to sleep while I cooked…so the wine didn’t get decanted… but we drank the PLL over about 2 hours… so it decanted in the glass… I would definitely recommend decanting if possible…
