Thanks Rodrigo! Overblown and overjoyed with the response online and email, and even meeting a WB’er today for a tasting at the winery! Really appreciate the help!
Got a 12 pack of mixed cider on BD. Really don’t know much about cider and have only gotten to two of them (Dabinett in the glass right now) but what I have had is really nice and have confidence in the others.
We had a lovely tasting today with David. We enjoyed the entire lineup and found the wines to be elegant, varied, fun, and educational. Don’t hesitate to jump on this fabulous offer.
Thanks for the wine, Dave, we really enjoyed meeting you today.
Thanks Brian. For the Cortell-Rose Vineyard 2021 was a great vintage and I have honed my picking date decision making, and fermentation and élevage techniques over the years so that is seems easy to me now. But I am just starting to understand the vineyard— each of the 6 blocks having their unique ripening arcs, and expressions. The best part perhaps is the assemblage to create the four cuvées. A lot more creativity and complexity to play with when there were 40 barrels to taste through for the vintage, and I had 10 palates at hand (6 clones fermented separately destemmed, plus 4 clones whole cluster).
Quick update: I had a good meeting with a distributor last week, and silver lining is that they cover the Pacific NW so this will hopefully bring my wines into Washington and Idaho for the first time. Yes! I should perhaps get the first order in April and then the first check in late May so it will be difficult for a few months, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
So with that reality, the 40% FOUNDER discount code is still alive and kicking at SunBreakWineCider.com .
To peak your interest a bit more: I showed all four 2021s Pinots, the ciders and vermouth to five experienced somm/reps. and managers and I was jazzed to get very positive feedback. And then when we went through pricing, they were super impressed with the QPR. That is my business model— my goal is to be THE best QPR for single-vineyard Eola-Amity Hills/Willamette Valley (especially with the 40% offer, and wine club discounts) (I do not have tasting room, winery or property assets to weigh me down). We had a very long meeting and tasting, which they assured me would not be the case for meh wines… even with the wine maker and owner there. So shop with confidence! Thanks again!
Hi David,
Can you tell us some more about your cider beyond what you have already posted? What are star ratings from? How dry are they? Asking for a friend (also known as my wife). She likes her cider bone dry which is surprisingly hard to find. And do these have any aging capacity or are they more for drinking straight from the delivery truck? Not that aging would be the goal, but when the choices are plenty…
Thanks
In for a mixed 6-pack of Pinot Noir. Thanks, David!
Yes, the ciders are bone dry. They are bottled conditioned— like a méthode champenoise without the disgorgement — so lees in the bottle, and no RS or dosage is possible . The reviews are from Lauren Gertsen who used to be a free lancer for Cider Scene (posted on the Cider Expert app), but also there are a few CT reviews from WB’ers you can check out. In terms of aging, these are not pasteurized so must be cellared (upright) at proper temps. The Liberty Red and Dabinett are clean and bright, the Perfection and Gravenstein Gold having evolved a bit of yield yeast notes like a sour beer would. It would be fun to see you two— PM me for a delivery!
In for a case of cider! Thanks David!
