Stirm Wine

Just received an offer from Stirm and ordered a few cool sounding, reasonably priced bottles, including some cab pfeffer ($33) and some intentionally oxidized riesling ($28). https://www.stirmwine.com/
No experience with the producer but can only assume I signed up based on something I read here. Anyone ever had any of these wines?

Last year I grabbed a few bottles of a field blend by them labeled “Tiburcio Vasquez” from Sommselect. I loved it. Fruit forward, but rustic and full of acid.

Yes. Awesome winemaker. Got my first Riesling fruit from him. Cab Pfeffer is awesome and so is the Wirz Riesling. I recommend.

I have had the cab pfeffer. Fun wine. Worth exploring.

Support this guy. Insanely hard working visionary, full of passion, and hasn’t had an easy start to this project. Was the assistant at Tyler for years. Makes some really good low intervention wines in Aromas.

I had the last vintage of cab pfeffer that he made and loved it. Haven’t had his other wines but have heard good things

I have had a couple of Rieslings from STiRM in the past. Both were excellent! I really would like to try some of the reds from Ryan.

Here are a couple of posts I made on the “Santa Clara & San Benito Wine Heritage” thread regarding Ryan Stirm’s work:

The Wine Write Interview (Wirz Vineyard)

“Is a Riesling Renaissance beginning in California? – Chapter 1 (Ryan Stirm)”

Are the rieslings dry?

In my experience, yes.

The “Kick-On Ranch” really was a crowd-pleaser at a family dinner a few months ago. The “Wirz Vineyard” needs more time, in my opinion, but it showed well nevertheless shortly after release. Both were '15 vintage.

Ryan Stirm top guy. He makes great wines. And the Riesling I had was dry, even in my book.

And every Cab Pfeffer I’ve ever had has been great. I’ve been trying to get some of the Enz and Wirz fruit for 2 years, but have had no luck yet.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts. Strong reviews all the way around. Glad I pulled the trigger on a few and will report back after I pop some corks.
Regarding dryness levels, all the stats for the available wines are on the website, fwiw.

Do they make fortified red wine? It would be fun to open a bottle while saying “Any Port in a Stirm”. [highfive.gif]

I love Ryan’s wines, been on the list for a few years now and try to sample a little of everything I’m offered. A few of the wines have been a little strange but that happens when you push the creative envelope. The vast majority have been great and a hole lot of fun. His Pet-Nat is my wife’s favorite wine right now.

Highly recommend Stirm. Ryan has done a great job on everything I’ve tried from him.

They’re currently offering free shipping on orders over $150 fyi

Was on the receiving end of some fantastic customer service from Ryan this morning–amidst the tumult of the fires no less!

…Great array of nerdy and beautiful wines.

The Santa Lucia Highlands pinot is one of the most beautifully perfumed wines I’ve had in a while. Highly recommended
