Spring Mountain Sale of Elivette wines

You all are a bad influence. And, CT and this board are enablers…. Tsk, tsk.

Anyway, in for a mix of 375s from ‘07-‘10 and 750s from ‘13, ‘16 and ‘19.

Interesting that there are no '13 notes on CT.

What’s the deal with that?!

Was late to the party but got a few to try:

04, 09, 10, 11, 13, 16, 19

went for 2 each of 2015, 2016, 2018 and 1 2019 to hit free shipping

So when do they open up the sale to other varietals? Asking for a friend of course…

I bought two each of 2013, 2010 and 2007.

Amazing deal but just not in a position to buy big quantities.

Typo - 2 2015 and 2 2016

grabbed some 16s and 18s… 750s and mags… thanks for the post!

Glad to see this…in for some 375s. I’m always on the lookout for well-priced half-bottles of good stuff. Thanks!

So here’s some info that I received from a friend in Napa about this " Fire Sale" They are quoted below

" My understanding of the offer is MGG is investing $100m for a complete replant and reno of the property. Spring Mountain has also held onto inventory for some reason so MGG wants to release them for immediate cash flow and to get rid of inventory.

I wonder if that means well see older cab at some point…

Just a heads up: this was briefly discussed in one of the de Negoce threads, but I had emailed because my requested ship date of this fall showed up as next week (June 2) in my confirmation email.

Received a message back:
“This is not a normal sale, where we can hold the wine back for weather reasons. The winery is departing from the Elivette label and all of it is being shipped out in the next week or two. There is no way to hold this wine past a couple of weeks. All shipments will have ice packs in them. The wine is expected to ship out this Monday.”

Disappointing turn of events, but I’m going to roll with it given the crazy discount rather than cancel my order. I’m in Virginia.

Yup. Great time for the consumer. Bummer for the winery. Sign O the times…

Is it a bummer? It sounds more like they are making a big investment in redoing and upgrading it all, as opposed to hitting rock bottom and trying to raise cash.

A good friend of mine said he served a 1974 Spring Mountain cabernet (I don’t think the Elivette specifically) last year in a flight of 1974s and it showed well.

I had bought 3 magnums, which just hit the $250 for free shipping, last night. Just ordered another half case. I’ve bought plenty of dN over the years, but it’s nice to get a well-regarded name brand wine - without any uncertainty - for not much more money!
