Just wondering if anyone out there had ever tried this type of wine or had any producer recommendations. Very little in CT with this combination of grape and wine type.

What would be the appellation?
Hey Chris
I’ve never seen this. I’d try it in a heartbeat
Berry…hmmm, not sure. Why not Muscadet de Sevre-et-Maine? Possible?
Ray, I was going to open a sparkling chenin tonight and wondered if there any other nice Loire sparklers.
I’ve tasted a few and I am pretty sure they can’t be Muscadet or any other AOC aside from Vin de France or Vin de Table. The wines themselves are fun and usually very light, but I wasn’t really impressed by them to be honest.
Well, you do occasionally hear complaints that even most sparkling Chenin is made from inferior stock, often what hasn’t fully ripened. Frankly, it would make a lot of sense to make a nice, lean sparkler, with light dosage, for this purpose. But I have no reason to think that there couldn’t be a better result if someone dedicated themselves to the idea. In fact, I seem to recall discussion of someone (Pepiere?) doing just this.
A CT check shows a Chris Kissack note on a Pepiere bubbly with 20/g rs and 9% alcohol! So unusual. Of course it also shows it as a “white blend.” Received a rather favorable note.
Further checking shows a vintage sparkling Melon by Luneau Papin that received similarly favorable (but better) reviews by Chris. CT inventory shows no bottles, and I suspect that this may be the sort of thing not (yet) imported.
From either of those producers, I’d certainly give it a try.
I think that producer would be the key for something like this. In the hands of someone talented, it might be interesting if not better.
