Sonoma Restaurants

In Sonoma for a wedding in September. Any recommendations for a fun (not fancy) Friday night dinner in or very close to Sonoma/Mission Inn?
Thanks in advance.

It’s been awhile since I was over there, but as I recall, there’s mostly fast food restaurants within walking distance. Mary’s Pizza is good but will be crowded and reservations are needed at restaurants on the square. There’s also a couple of good Mexican restaurants north of the Inn.

I’d check with my brother-in-law, (Greg Taylor), but the stuff he eats is well, a little eclectic. If you need wine or cigars while you are there, he’s just down the street, Taylor & Norton Wine Merchants.

I should have added that if you have dinner at any of the restaurants on the square on a Friday, you can catch all the action, partying, fun and interesting people that hang out or bar hop around the square.

Maya Restaurant (southeast corner) on the Square. Then hit Steiner’s for after dinner drinks.

Trust me.

There you have it from the expert. Google it, reserve it. enjoy the hell out of it. And, take a cab. [cheers.gif]

Lucky for me I’m very good friends with the Benzigers, who live a block off the Square…and take me there.

;D

We walk.

Thanks guys, but in Minneapolis I live on the same block as a happening tequila bar/restaurant that I’m an owner of, so need to diversify when out of town. And by “not fancy” I meant not “French Laundry” formality, but still looking for good chef driven food. Keep it coming, and thanks.

It’s been a while but use to eat here every now and then.

Cafe La Haye

Ok, in that case, along with Brian’s rec of Cafe la Haye, EDK is awesome. Indoor and outdoor seating area. NW corner of Square.

Ate at EDK a month or so ago after visiting the Sojourn tasting room and thought it was very good - nice variety on the menu and the winelist, and great service.

Thanks everyone, you are the best. Going with El Dorado Kitchen.

Brad, I would give a big thumbs up to Brian’s recomendation. I’ve been there twice, great meals both times.

Patently average. Sorry.

I have always felt that EDK was over-rated but I thought I’d let Brad make that decision for himself.

Turns out one of the wedding events is at EDK, so we switched dinner on Friday to Cafe La Haye. Brian, your Sonoma dining cred is on the line.
Trying to get in to The Girl and The Fig - no luck.

Cafe La Haye was great food. Would recommend it. Thanks guys for the help.

Jeez-where was Holdredge in all this???

Patently great! [stirthepothal.gif]
Glad you enjoyed it.

Downing shots at the bar at Maya.
