Some BBQ wines

Couple barbecue wines, they drank phenomenally.

2021 Jean-Pierre Guyon Bourgogne Rouge

Natural-ish with a hint of carbonic, beautiful cranberries and pure strawberry fruit on the nose. Some more pure fruits on the palate, and lovely finish.

2019 Hudelot-Noellat Bourgogne Rouge

Wow this is lights out, super pure cherry fruits, crisp and lithe acidity on the palate with more pure fruits, beautiful long finish. Killer wine.

What kind of BBQ did you enjoy with these? I’ve found warmer weather wines like Syrah or Napa Cabs to go better with Southern BBQ spices and sauce. Or maybe you just mean an outdoor grill get together, lol.

Oh I did Brazilian bbq; some Picahna on the rotisserie. The acidity worked well with the fatty cut.

Looks fantastic! Or well, it probably would if I could see your image, which unfortunately does not appear to load for me.

There’s no image, just a link to instagram

Hmm… that also is not visible for me at all here, which is odd, but perhaps a technical issue on my end. Nonetheless, I found the image of it there, thanks (and both bottles look very nice indeed, though I was rather hoping for photos of the poured wines and BBQ, lol!).

Probably should have taken some pictures of the food, but oh well.

I also grilled pineapple, but it disappeared too quickly to get a picture.

Sounds like a great meal all around. I love the idea of acidic burgundies with BBQ. I had always been in the cab/syrah/zin camp to pair.

The last time I made this I poured 18 detert cabernet and it was way too big and ponderous for the warm day.

I don’t have a ton of experience with Hudelot-Noellat Bourgogne, but I was blinded on a bottle of the 1997 at WOPN this year and was blown away! Is the quality consistently high on that bottling?

Yes it’s fantastic.
