Sojourn cellars purchased by ex-CEO Vintage Wine Estates.
At one time I used to purchase Sojourn wine, but I found the Pinots too ripe and rich for my tastes, and I have way more than enough Cab to last my lifetime.

I’ve recently purchased some of their pinot noirs and chardonnay at discount wine retailers. Their
2022 Sojourn Pinot Noir Petaluma Gap was outstanding, albeit ripe and very California. Like you, I don’t seek out this style of wines, although they are decent quality.
My wife and I tasted at their tasting room off the square in Sonoma last year - their wines are definitely made in a riper style across the board. Their pricing has gone up as well - but so have many others in the area.
We’ll see what Roney will be able to do marketing wise with the brand - the winemaking will remain in tact and therefore if you like that style, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed moving forward.
Cheers
Still have a few bottles from a tasting appointment there a few years ago. They’re very good for what they are, definitely in the 14.5 fruit driven camp, have enjoyed the bottles we have but never reloaded from subsequent list offers because that isn’t ultimately the style we prefer. I wasn’t aware of the prior sale, but did once wonder whatever happened to Craig Haserot who featured so heavily in all the discussions on this site from a few years prior. I figured something like a sale or business divorce, but never really looked into it.
I thought it was sold a few years back?
This is the second time it’s been sold in the last few years. It was originally sold to Ken Mattson, a local resident who invested heavily in hotels and real estate in the area - and has run into some serious issues because it turns out it was a ‘ponzi scheme’
After they burned me with some ashtray-tasting 2020s, im done with em.
He was always so heavy handed and hard sell it always made me uncomfortable to be around him at tastings. It gave me a bad feeling about the brand so I never bought them
I’ve stepped back as well. Sitting on quite a bit over the past decade and change. Style definitely shifted as others have noted. Also never liked the full court press sales tactic where they try to call me to buy my allocation if I skipped.
NM now.
