Very cool.

Kind of reminds of me of when the Soviet Union split apart. Parker begins to unravel a bit at the top and all sorts of cool stuff starts breaking loose.

Does that make me cool stuff?

You are the Lithuania in this whole mess. So yes, cool stuff.

I think it does, Mr Former Microsoft Executive [welldone.gif]

Heh, I was a Microsoft Middle Manager (variously a Group Program Manager and a Product Unit Manager). If I had hung around I might have been an Executive at some point. I loved the place.

Very cool. I suppose we should expect another surge of new members. [berserker.gif]

I like the article… probably not well received in other places… but interesting to see the synopsis…

I hate to see parker bashed… but somebody has to be responsible for the some of the personnel choices he makes…just as we give him lots of credit for David and Antonio (who I think are great)… he needs some reflection when it comes to others…

It is all very sad though…these should be his halcyon days… not a series of battles in defense of his reputation.

I would like to meet Steinberger…

what is amazing to me is that it took the internet to give wine drinkers the confidence to trust their own mouths.

I dunno Glenn… Freakmount is a master of the internet, but still has the palate of a Yak… I think the internet brought a little democracy to the discussion of wine… but Freaky can have all the confidence he wants, for the most part, he gets it wrong… I am not sure he is even north of 70% when guessing color in a clear glass

I have spoken with him a few times, never in person. Very bright. I too look forward to meeting him someday. This article of his remains one of my favorite pieces of wine writing, and it is all the more poignant after losing my Dad recently. he any better with food?

Good article. Nice to see shout-outs for WB and CT in there. [berserker.gif]

Scott,
While I agree, I think it should be pointed out that criticism is, by nature, a controversial job - and when one is the most powerful wine critic in the world, one is, by definition, at the center of controversy.
(I would devolve into comments about ‘heat’ and ‘kitchens’ here but I’ll attempt to rise above that.)
Best, Jim

I remember this piece and I agree, it’s a beauty. Really does an elegant job of capturing all that is good about a passion for wine.

only sort of…

We’re the purged and disaffected. Which one are you?

And the unwelcome. That would be me.

Don’t forget the de-fected. [pwn.gif]

Apparently there is a party line that has been established, hate to bring this up again but Mr. Squires friended me on FB when he first signed up and a few weeks ago I noticed that I had been de-friended.

So my conclusion is that if you participate here and have anything critical to say there you are obviously a threat. Not that that’s news, I guess. deadhorse
