Just want all of you to know that shipping will not start until mid February and am hoping to complete by the end of March.
I’ll continue to check the weather & keep you posted on any big changes in my plan!
It has been like summertime in Sonoma County this week! I hope everyone on the East survived severe wintery weather!!
I will start shipping from this weekend for the orders from the West Coast. I will send shipping notifications to those who have placed orders 1-2 days before the shipment. Please be on the lookout for my email!
received the magnolia blend and 2020 chard today, popped a chard at cellar temp. poured a very light pale yellow. faint tropical fruit and lemon on the nose, a little salinity, a little diacetyl? on the palate acidic, a touch of salinity but also some apparent sweetness, followed by a gentle swell of long-tailed pome fruits, clean finish. light lean texture, love it!
I’m glad the shipment has arrived safely and you are already enjoying the chard! 2020 is very young and it is most likely going through a shock. This wine had a beautiful nose of citrus & tropical fruits while it was going through primary fermentation! I’m hoping these characters will come back after some cellaring. I hope you enjoy the Magnolia blend as well & looking forward to more comments from you!! ありがとうございます!!
Hi all! I hope everyone is well! Mask mandate was lifted for the vaccinated in most parts of California from today. I can’t believe how many times I have wasted masks with wine stains!
I wanted to videocast a drawing live to reveal secret bottle but I’ve run out of time before the shipment…
So here are the unlucky three winners
Clayton Wai-Poi
C Siun O’Connell
Glen Gold
The surprise bottle was a bottle of Chardonnay barrel-aged sake, made by SF-based (the first and only SF local sake producer who uses locally grown organic rice only) sake producer Sequoia Sake! They have been using the neutral barrels that I have used to ferment Linda Vista Chardonnay for the last couple of years. This sake’s profile is literally the hybrid of sake & chardonnay, and pair very well with traditional Japanese and seafood dishes.
Here is the link to Sequoia Sake for more details about them.
I’ve never thought of aging sake in wine barrels myself, but they have been doing a wonderful job by thinking outside the box! Hope you enjoy their sake!
I’m going to start shipping orders to the southern states this weekend! Those who are from these states will receive notifications as soon as they ship from here. Hope you all enjoy the weekend!!
after a week of choking down Austin Hope kool-aid in the OC, returned home and popped a 2019 Magnolia red blend, 50/50 mix of cab sauv and merlot, giving it ~30 mins in a decanter in a cool ~13°C room while fixing lunch. drank from a sensory.
immediately leathery tobacco on the nose, dark raspberryish, hint of something earthy. on the palate, again with the red/dark berries, pyrazine, a touch of spicy something? super long finish with some powdery tannin. excellent acid balance. very nicely restrained cool-climate-tasting wine, hard to pin down, but eminently drinkable young.
super impressed with this and the '20 chard; a welcome breath of fresh air. definitely stocking up on these!
