It’s my 45th this may and really good friends of ours 30th wedding anniversary (funny how 10 years and different life choices can make such a huge disconnect in some ways, but I digress).
My wife and I along with the two of them are doing Napa and Sonoma with reservations at french laundry as well as single thread farms.
In terms of single thread, if you had a $1,000-$1,300ish budget for a champagne, white, red wine night what would you choose?
(I can’t believe I’m about to ask this…but I also don’t remember anyone else asking it) is a .375 half bottle split 4 ways enough for everyone to get a sense of the wine and enjoy it? I’m thinking of a half bottle of champagne with an amuse bouche for example

Thank ya Dave,
I’m down to page 41 and I’m horrified (I don’t get out much) but the 2019 Ceritas Heintz @ 150.00 might get me started.
Hey Rob, what’s jumping out at you?
When we dined there a handful of years ago, the menu skewed towards sparkling and white wine. Depending on how much someone has to have red, you might be able to get away with a 375ml. I think that’s a talk you can have with the somm.
All of the Marie-Courtin, Ulysse Collin Les Maillons, Ulysse Collin, Les Pierrières, Paul Bara, Spécial Club rose,
Emrich-Schönleber, Halenberg, Grosses Gewächs 2014
Pascal Cotat, Les Monts Damnés 2004
Château Simone, Palette, Provence 2012
A bunch of PYCM and Caroline Morey
Bodegas Riojanas, Viña Albina, Gran Reserva 1978 because it’s a birth year wine.
I might start with glasses of 2012 Dom. Or Ulysse Collin.
In the reds, a lot of it is painfully young or frightfully expensive. For aged wines that didn’t look too crazy, Musar, Charvin, Beaucastel, VT, and that 1994 Daumas Gassac (with a good decant).
