How simple is this? And our room was comfortable in cooling mode. Not sure what happens when you need heat. The rooms are fairly modern so I don’t think these are vestiges of an older system. The hotel is the Old Bank Hotel in Oxford.

Well I guess that saves them a load on sensors and so on. What you have essentially is a conduit of cold air and a duct into each room with a fan which can be off, low or high.
Which is sort of how aircon was in early adopter (tropical) countries in the olden days!
In an Oxford hotel, you are just happy you have air conditioning.
