Can anyone recommend shops with decent Champagne selections in this area? Thanks in advance!
I assume you know about PJs (https://pjwine.com), the classic uptown/and Bronx adjacent wine shop.
Champagne selection might not be the geekiest on the grower front, but more than decent.

I actually know almost nothing about buying wine in NYC since I can’t recall ever purchasing wine there. I am doing some research for my brother who lives near Fordham. Thanks for the recommendation; I’ll check them out. Cheers!
The Winery in South Harlem has a very good champagne selection

It’s slim pickings up here and PJ’s is the only place I’ll buy from. I believe there is a place in the Bronx but it’s online only I believe sorry I don’t remember the name.

Crush, Chambers, Flatiron, Astor, Manhattan Wine Co will all deliver for around $20-40 or free over a certain amount. Easiest thing to do in NYC.
Vinyl wine on the upper east side has a good selection of Champagne

Other cities, particularly LA don’t get this. NYC wine shops are great with delivering wine. And in temperature controlled vehicles.
I remember Woody Allen, don’t recall if it was a line in a movie or an interview, marvelling that in NYC you could get $3 worth of Chinese noodles delivered (may be a 40ish year old price though).
