I didn’t fully realize how difficult it has become to ship wine out of Illinois until looking at shipping policy at a few places recently. One step forward, two steps back…what a shame, some very good shops there. Are there any good, legal workarounds to liberate wine from Illinois these days like 3rd party storage / shipping brokers that aren’t prohibitively expensive?
I think tcwc and a couple other places ship. HDH does to some places.
Could have them ship to a FedEx or UPS on the border with a neighboring state, if you know someone who can carry it the rest of the way.
Where in Illinois are you?
I don’t know what happened there recently with laws or enforcement, but a couple of places that shipped previously now explicitly say they do not. You’re right Brian I have done that sort of thing occasionally in the past e.g. send to Virginia and pick up when I’m driving that way from NC. Too far from here for IL though

Edit: Todd I’m in NC, but the issue looks like it’s with something leaving IL vs. sending to NC.
2nd edit: Used to be the same thing trying to get wine from MA after the 90s. However, I just had some things sent from there apparently by a broker, using the same strategy that folks in CA have been using for some time.
Ok, where in IL do you need it shipped from?
What I was just looking at is at Schaefer’s in Skokie, but after talking with them I realized that other places that have in the past now aren’t shipping either.
