Shipping to Hong Kong

Anyone know the rules/process/pitfalls to ship wine to Hong Kong?

It’s very easy as there is no duty at all here, hence no customs to hold things up. I would tend to avoid shipping in the Summer, as it gets very hot.

In the past few months I’ve used Seabrooks, Connoisseur International and Hillebrand all without fault.

What Stephen said. May I suggest World Wide Cargo as another option?

Hell, if you don’t want to spend too much, you could even use FedEx.

Thanks guys. Just talking a couple of bottles here to a friend, so thinking well packed FedEx would work. However I don’t have a license of any sort to ship- is there any concern of confiscation either by US outgoing or HongKong incoming if they discover it’s wine?

There is no risk at the Hong Kong end. You could now walk through customs at HK Aiprort with a barrell of wine and they wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

That must be nice. Do the same into Toronto, Canada and they confiscate your wine like you just stole it, strip search you and you have to re-mortgage your house to pay the duties and taxes… OK, I’m exaggerating slightly, but it makes you wonder which is the communist country.

I have shipped there about 6 times now. I use USPS Global Express. It usually takes less than 2 days for delivery from the west coast of america.

Reviving the thread.

A friend is looking to ship about 40 cases of wine from SF to HK. I would love to get a quote for a refrigerated cargo by sea. Please let me know if you have any leads.

Thanks in advance!
