Shipping Golf Clubs?

Has anyone used any of the shipping services for a large golf bag to Hawaii?

My brother uses FedEx from Ohio to Las Vegas a few times per year. A bit pricey but he says it is worth it - delivered to the club where they have their first round scheduled and shipped home from the club where they play their last round.

Shipped out to Monterey last year without any issue via FedEx. I believe it comes down to a few things:

  • do you have a reliable golf travel carrier? You’re likely signing away airline damage, so keep that in mind.
  • how much luggage do you have? Will it be a pain to carry it in addition to your luggage?
  • is there a reason shipping could be advantageous (too much luggage in a car, high value clubs requiring insurance, etc)?

In my case, I was in Monterey, the had the wife come out and we drove down to Paso - far easier to ship - usually I travel with them.

Try these guys. I hear nothing but glowing reviews.

Thanks Guys!

I hate to be without my sticks and for longer trips I refuse to rent but going to Hawaii next month and am going this route - http://www.clubhub.com

Everything you ship going to Hawaii is over night or next day. $$$$$$$$$$$$. Then you have to repackage it, deliver it to UPS or FEDEX for the return trip. Try this:

UPS shipping to Hawaii: $125.00
UPS shipping from Hawaii: $110.00

Extra bag on plane to Hawaii: $35.00
Extra bag on plane from Hawaii: $35.00

My calculator says take the bag with you.

Oops. Almost forgot. If you don’t own a travel bag for your clubs: $50 to $75.00.

Still less and the travel bag is reusable.

Great service and cheaper than FedEx, at least for the places I have used them.

I plugged in my ship from to ship to zip codes and got a message that service not available in your area. Not sure if that means Denver or Hawaii.

Club Glove Last Bag w/ Stiff Arm as checked luggage. FedEx/UPS is a horrible hassle since you need to find a place to ship back home while you’re on vacation. Plus, it’s extremely expensive and you need to rely on somebody to receive your clubs on the other end.

If you’re worried about loss/damage from airlines, get a rider put onto your homeowner’s insurance. ~$15,000 of coverage costs me less than $100 a year. I travel a lot to play, but even if I didn’t it would be worth it over spending easily that much to ship just once.

Don’t get a hard case either. They’re a pain in rental cars. I’ve traveled with guys who said, “but I always rent a SUV, it’s not a problem”. Well, not until you get to your destination and they let your SUV drive away with someone else and you’re in a Ford Focus. Seen it happen.

I have a ClubGlove I have traveled with for years. Love it. Just asked about shipping because as I am getting older, dragging the bag thru the airport is a bit of a pain. Figured if there was an easy, reliable way that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, I would give it a try. Looks like I’m traveling with my bag as usual.
