Shipping from Greece

Will be back to a great wine bar in Athens where we have had remarkable wines from grapes we never heard of but they are not available here.
Anyone have a lead to a shipper for a case or 2?

Sorry, no. But could I ask the name of the wine bar/wine?

I’'l be there in May

When I bought a case from Karamolegos and asked to be shipped to my US home address, they just used DHL. Came out to about $100 for the case, if I recall. This was pre-tariffs, however.

https://www.oinoscent.gr/ great food too.

ask for Kostas, the sommelier and tell him I sent you. I will be there next week giving a lecture on the neurology of wine.
As thread drift, here is one of the things we will discuss. Any ideas?

How does the brain decide that a wine is great?
How would a naive wine drinker respond to my 1982 Pichon Lalande?
Is it objective or subjective? Is it imaginative or representational?
Is the brain just experiencing the sensory components or reacting to these components?

now it says $795 for a case to california ???

Love Oinoscent. I don’t know about shipping (presumably to the US). All shippers I know of are pricey and the usual players. We’ve taken extra suitcases to load up in the past. Not two cases worth, but we have managed about 18 bottles over 2 suitcases. We haven’t had a problem with nonstop flights back.

Yep, definitely. Bring an extra suitcase and check the bottles home.

I never tried from Greece but my experience is that shipping is prohibitively expensive from EU countries other than France & Italy. Those 2 countries have specialist companies due to the heavy wine tourism. Even Spain didn’t work. MBE is most everywhere, but they don’t compete on price with specialist expeditors.

I believe that Wine Tunnel in Athens, a retail store a few minute walk from Oinoscent had shipping to the US available last summer, but it was I feel around 350+ USD per case.

Oinoscent is a terrific spot to eat with some really fun wine. I cannot more highly recommend the scallop crudo dish. One of the best things I ate in 2025. I’d recommend trusting the somm and trying something you have not heard of. Don’t be afraid to buy something cheap either.

I shipped a case home from Santorini last summer and it cost $100 to ship UPS.

Stopped into Oinoscent when in Athens last summer. Kostas helped us when we sat at the bar. We had amazing conversation and he poured us some great aged Assyrtikos!!

For a naive wine drinker it is subjective, for an experienced palate it is objective.
