I feel certain that the answer is already here somewhere, but I want FRESH answers. I have a small lot of wine (14 bottles) waiting for me at Bonhams Skinners in Marlborough, MA. Bonhams won’t point you in a certain direction - they just send you a list of shippers which includes a UPS Store and a PakMail. What I really want is someone to store the wine for a month at or near the correct temperature and then ship it to me ground UPS or FedEx - whichever is cheaper. It is good and “ready” wine, but it isn’t especially valuable. I actually got a steal on both lots.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in or around Boston for this?
I store my wine at International Wine Vault. They’ve been excellent to me so far, and I know they can accept short-term holds like yours before shipping them out to you. I haven’t used them for any shipping services yet, but wouldn’t hesitate to based on my experiences so far.
Nah. Bonhams doesn’t want to be connected to any shipping screw up, especially on high-dollar purchases. To that end they won’t make recommendations at all. That extends to Lower Falls as well. They dodge liability by just giving you a big list of shippers.
I guess you’ll find out if International Wine Vault can ship for you. In case they can, I’m just posting another vote of confidence. I’ve stored with them for many years, both bulk and in lockers, and they are extremely well run.
