I haven’t tried the wines but Anthony King tells me the canopy management on your blocks look amazing. No doubt this shows up in the wines!
One of my favorite wineries! I don’t have much room or budget so I got a couple of Pet Nat and a couple of the Willamette 2020.
Order in - can’t wait to try the pet-nat. Thanks!
Jerry,
wow! That is quite the comment and compliment. Thanks for sharing it.
I didn’t write much about us or our wine making, because my Offer (first post) was already so long. Akiko’s work in the vineyard is critical to how our wines turn out every year. She has some very different and very thoughtful takes on vineyard management. No two vintages are ever the same. No vintage is ever constant. Constant observation and reaction to the weather and the vine condition is her modus operandi. There is no recipe or standard operating procedure in the vineyard.
Her vineyard management obsession is actually a real pain in the butt, because she also does all of the labor herself. Often the professional crews cannot or will not do things her way. This is one of the reason that our rows at Bellevue Cross always standout. She fine tunes her management of the vines on such an incredible level. For example, just in the 8 rows (less than 1 acre) in that vineyard there are about 5 different levels of vigor. Each one gets managed a little different.
This is one of the reasons that when people come to visit the winery, they usually get stuck with me, because Akiko is out in the vineyard with her babies…
Also, good morning, everyone!
I will be walking over to the winery sometime in the next hour to put together the first Super Secret Surprise Offering. Stay Tuned.
Thank you, Ben, Rickie, Jerry, Greg, Carlo, Darien, Mariano, Sheila and EVERYONE else who ordered.
Oh no, I just ordered a mixed case of whites, not realizing I purchased a white 6-pk yesterday! Can I cancel the 6-pk and just have the case on order?
Haha. Yeah, no worries. You gotta keep the database up to date, Rick!
Order in, love these wines
Thanks! Well, I won’t be updating the database until tomorrow, but at least my order increased by 6.
You and Akiko are the pointy end of the vineyard management stick.
Bump for the first Super Secret Surprise offer.
MAGNUMS FOR SALE. - sold out
Check the first post or just go right to the website. They won’t last long!
Hello, we are trying to order wine from you guys. Is there a pick up option instead of delivery? We are in your neck of the woods.
Just make a note in the order that you want to pick up. There is a place in the cart where you can leave a note. If you get charged shipping, I will refund it when I review your order…
That work?
Yes and thank you! We are in!
Super Secret Surprise #2
2016 Horizontal 3 Pack $100 (retail $155) - sold out
1 x 2016 Nuestro Sueño Single Vineyard Pinot noir
1 x 2016 Lewman Single Vineyard Pinot noir
1 x 2016 Willamette Cuvée Pinot noir
In 2016 we only sourced from 2 vineyards: Lewman and Nuestro Sueno. We made a single vineyard bottling from each and a blend of the two. The 3 pack contains one of each.
Nuestro Sueño tends toward blue fruit, high acidity and medium tannin (for Oregon Pinot noir). Not fine skin tanins, a little coarser, but not coarse and burly wood / seed tanins either. 2016 NSV (as we call it) shows blueberries mostly with a hint of orange on the nose.
Our Lewman bottlings are dark brooding. Not big, but dark. They take their time unpacking dark spices - occasionally as far as black pepper. Not as acidic as NSV, but a good balance between pH, tanin and alcohol in the mouth.
The Willamette Cuvée blend from 2016 is very unique, because it is the only time we have not had the bright-toned red-fruit from Havlin vineyard in the mix. So, the Willamette Cuvée is also a bit more to unpack. A bit more cerebral than other vintages if you will.
Chris - I’m in for two packs of this to round up yesterday’s 6 pack order to a case!
Shipping refunds issued for the two 6 packs…
Thanks, Ricky! Enjoy.
2 more of these left in case anyone is hesitating…
Ok, last gasps for my credit cards on a whirlwind 2 days, but I needed to try your wines and am looking forward to them. Anyone with a finger up there nose that’t not Ralph Wiggum is pretty good with me. Did a 3 pack + 3 pet nat.
Life’s short, drink wine.
Thanks, Rich.
And thanks to everyone else who ordered today. I am always blown away by the support we get here.
To the repeaters, thanks for coming back. Thank you as much for the purchase as for the positive feedback. I hope you enjoy the new vintage at least as much as the previous years.
To those trying our wines for the first time, thank you for the leap of faith. Buying wine from a couple of unknowns is risky. Buying wine from weirdos hiding out in the mountains in Oregon is downright gutsy. I hope you enjoy the wines and become repeaters.
-Chris & Akiko
Darn just noticed these. Was on a ski trip with the kids on Friday. If there is anything left, would love to try!
