Sherry - Notes of HuangJiu (Chinese Yellow Wine)

I’ve had a few bottles of sherry recently, a couple of amontillados, palo cortado and oloroso. On all of them, I get the immediate hit of “huangjiu” - the Chinese posters on here will know what I’m talking about. I’ve brought a bottle to China, and get the same response there.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my huangjiu, but it’s a strange association that is extremely strong. Anyone else?
