Seeking White Burgundy recs w/ “piña colada / citrus cream” profile

I feel like Sonoma is a place where the Chardonnays can have good balance and some of the flavors you’re looking for.

Yep, which is why I mentioned that and Leflaive only under lemon curd and citrus cream.

That you did.

Mentioned the regions / forgot the producers :frowning:

Will seek thank you Mr. Marcus

+1 to Guffens-Heynen if you’re looking for a high quality white burgundy with tropical fruit aromatics, at a good price. Other Mâcon wine tends to have similar fruit profile, but many producers, including some already mentioned in this thread, do not avoid botrytis and some even have residual sugar, so you should do your own research if you’re looking for more conventional white Burgundy style with ripe fruits.

If you up the budget, Meursault from warmer sites/years often have similar fruit profiles imo. My recent experience includes Mersault Charmes 2020 from Henri-Germain, but it’s more than $120 I believe.

If you’re open to other regions, many Chilean Chardonnay has tropical fruit profile, and they’re often very well made, though they’re REALLY tropical. Think of dried mango and pineapple. Montes Alpha Special Cuvée Chardonnay comes to my mind at below $30, but it doesn’t seem distributed to the US.

Wow Chilean Chard, now that is a cool rec. We are looking for REALLY tropical, have any other bottles besides the Montes Alpha? Like you said WS no showing any avail in the states. Cheers!

My experience with Chilean Chardonnay is limited to inexpensive wine, so I can’t comment much on nicer ones honestly. Presumably as in Sonoma, there would be different styles, and I suspect nicer ones from cooler climates like Baettig might not be as tropical, but inexpensive Chilean Chardonnay I’ve had have been consistently tropical fruit driven, so you could try something like Montes Alpha’s basic Chard or Escudo Rojo Chardonnay. Note they’re in the range of grocery store wine as far as quality goes, but so are their prices, so I recommend to see if they’re the style you look for, and if they’re, you can explore nicer wines from the region yourself.

Agreed but I’ve never had one hitting the coconut spectrum.
