Just got the e-mail from Tom, are his wines worth the price point? I have seen his home when visiting DC so I know it is a fine region.
Here is my note on the 2008 GTS. My love for the wine has nothing to do with me being a long time Met fan, though it’s been the only pleasure I’ve had from anything remotely related.
2008 GTS Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley, Diamond Mountain (12/18/2011)
Tasted non blind after and before some very fine wines. This is not a huge wine up front. Sure there is a nice sweet nose of fruit, oak and vanilla, but the excitement comes on the mid palate and finish where wave after wave of cassis, chocolate, and stone keep coming. I think this is a great wine that will be fascinating to follow over several years. (97 points)

The few I have had I have enjoyed.
Decent winemaker. Maybe you have heard of him before? ![]()
Both the 07 and 08 wines I have had were very good. As Pobega points out, the winemaking team is above average.
The November Wine Spectator just gave the 2008 GTS a 97, tied with Screagle and Schrader T6/GIII/Old Sparky for best of his annual Napa tasting report. Pretty solid testamonial.
I’d agree that the 2008 is pretty amazing. Haven’t cracked a 2009, the current release.
Dang. I bought the inaugural 2005 vintage. It was so backwards and tight, and as I bought so many other TRB wines, that I stopped buying. I will reassess my future purchases.
How much does it sell for on the mailing list these days?
Curtis if you want I will post when I get it.

Release was $95 for the 2008 and 2009.
With T and S, I think my total on these wines was in the 115-120 range all in.
Yup, I was $110 per after T&S. Maddening.
Thanks. I think I am still on the mailing list (I think). Will look for their next offer.
Two bottles 2009 GTS a @ 95.00. Will let you know in ten or so years when I drink them how good they are.
For just $30 more, I can get the Keyshawn Johnson Oregon Cabernet, so why would I bother with Seaver?
Both went to USC - which are strikes against them - but I prefer Diamond Mt. ![]()
My brother brought the '09 last night. It’s definitely a TRB wine. If I could get this I’d buy it in a second but sadly it’s sold out. It was the WOTN for everyone, reminded me a little of the 09 Hobel which is no surprise, same winemaker and about 100ft higher elevation of Diamond Mtn.
I was less impressed yesterday with the '09 than Carrie was, although I did taste mine in the presence of a life-long Mets fan
.
Nicely proportioned and way too young, but the biggest problem I had with it was that I was drinking it with the '08 & '09 D’Angerville Volnay Fremiet, and the difference in acidity between the Cab & the Burgs put the Cab at a disadvantage. I would have probably enjoyed it better on it’s own, or paired with a medium-rare strip steak.
