The one thing I noticed about oysters in Seattle is that they are very expensive when compared to Chicago. $50-$60 a dozen… at least at the 3 or 4 places I have been in downtown Seattle. They were very good but I found the pricing strange.
George
Walrus & Carpenter
solid eating experience… about $3 per piece…
$50-60 per dozen are probably baller places i never go to ![]()
Walrus is pretty awesome. Silly lineup of foodies and bloggers the last time I went but super enjoyable. Awesome product. I presume that Taylor Shellfish in Melrose Market is another great destination.
My wife keeps Kosher, so I don’t get a chance to oyster out very often.
Brooklyn Grill. $3 a shell, $17 for 1/2 or $33 for a full dozen. Many of them from the waters around the Puget Sound.
Local 360 does $1 oysters during happy hour (3-6). A fun place, and that’s always seemed like an unbeatable deal to me!
Walrus & Carpenter is the best in town and quite possibly in the country, but I’ll echo the recommendation of Taylor Shellfish and add Ballard Annex.
Traditional spots downtown like Elliot’s and the Brooklyn are definitely more convenient though. Blueacre, Seatown, and Shuckers are other downtown options.
We did The Brooklyn Happy Hour and Local 360 Happy Hour on our trip last October.
We ate at Local360 last night. Oysters and salmon were excellent - a cool restaurant with a local vibe, all ingredients sourced from local purveyors, also a good selection of local wines and beers.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
