Very good list from Rick in the $$ - $$$ range, which to me seems to be Seattle’s sweet spot so far anyway. (Matt’s does get up there in price a bit and I haven’t been to Mistral Kitchen). I’ve had some good meals at Lola too - i’d say on a par w/ Zoe.
In $$$$ land i’m not sure there is a ‘must do’. Out of Rovers, Crush, Canlis, and Le Gourmand we only really want to get back to Crush, though Canlis was very nice in a formal sort of way and gorgeous.
Get to Salumi by 11:30. I work around the corner and there is always quite a line by 11:45 or so.
Ha ha ha, I was actually at a sit-down lunch at Salumi’s (first time in a year for me) when I posted that. And yes, it ROCKED. Of course the sit-down lunch is only twice a week and booked out until November. Of course you can walk-in for a sandwich Tue-Sat if you wait in line.
The Crush tasting menu is in my opinion, the best tasting menu in the city. We’ve had some absolutely fabulous meals there. Very wine friendly as well.
It’s awfully fun but really a crap environment for a tasting. Challenging food matches. Cramped space. Again, lovely meal, lovely party, crap for any sort of intellectual tasting. Of course we may be looking for different things from a tasting group in that regard…
