Seattle restaurant recs... Where do the foodies go?

Making a trip to Seattle this weekend and looking to check out some of the local eating establishments. Any “must do” places I shouldn’t miss?

My house. flirtysmile

You’ll have to wait till next year’s SaxonFest for that! Any recs, Steve?

What are you looking for $ $$ $$$ $$$$?

All options. Just toss me a few of your favorites places in and around downtown as I’ll be staying in the city.

Poppy
Anchovies & Olives
Mistral Kitchen
Quinn’s (and Zoe)
Spinasse
Le Pichet
Lark
Bisato
Matt’s in the Market

I’ve wanted to try Spur Gastropub (a spin on the molecular gastronomy thing) but haven’t yet.

A couple aren’t downtown (Lark, Quinn’s) but are an easy cab ride from there.

Great list from Rick,

I would also add:

How to Cook a Wolf (Queen Anne)
Cafe Presse for super casual (Capital Hill)

Thank you both!

These may be of use. Trip to Seattle -recs? - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers and Seattle - Travel, Wine Tourism, and Restaurants Forum - WineBerserkers

avoid steak house - nothing great here…

try Shiro (downtown) if you feel like sushi.

Cafe Juanita is great (on the eastside in Kirkland).

How to Cook a Wolf
Bisato
Txori
Serious Pie (for lunch)
my house

What’s wrong with you people?

Salumi’s for lunch! It’s a must.

Don’t you mean your kitchen? flirtysmile

Thanks Eric. I’ve heard good things about Serious Pie but your house sounds better. [snort.gif]

I thought everyone already knew about that one… [snort.gif]

Very good list from Rick in the $$ - $$$ range, which to me seems to be Seattle’s sweet spot so far anyway. (Matt’s does get up there in price a bit and I haven’t been to Mistral Kitchen). I’ve had some good meals at Lola too - i’d say on a par w/ Zoe.

In $$$$ land i’m not sure there is a ‘must do’. Out of Rovers, Crush, Canlis, and Le Gourmand we only really want to get back to Crush, though Canlis was very nice in a formal sort of way and gorgeous.

Get to Salumi by 11:30. I work around the corner and there is always quite a line by 11:45 or so.

Ha ha ha, I was actually at a sit-down lunch at Salumi’s (first time in a year for me) when I posted that. And yes, it ROCKED. Of course the sit-down lunch is only twice a week and booked out until November. Of course you can walk-in for a sandwich Tue-Sat if you wait in line.

The Crush tasting menu is in my opinion, the best tasting menu in the city. We’ve had some absolutely fabulous meals there. Very wine friendly as well.

It would be great to do a STG meeting there.

It’s awfully fun but really a crap environment for a tasting. Challenging food matches. Cramped space. Again, lovely meal, lovely party, crap for any sort of intellectual tasting. Of course we may be looking for different things from a tasting group in that regard…
