Seattle Area - Offsite Storage question

I live in the Bellevue/Kirkland area, is the “eastside wine storage” a good place for it?

any comments good or bad?

If bad, alternative suggestions? (preferably on the east side as well?)

Thanks! [thumbs-up.gif]

They are certainly good folks. I’m not sure of other Eastside options.

And many swear by Seattle Wine Storage and Chuck Miller (who posts here occasionally). There are several other choices in the city as well.

I’ve heard good things about Seattle wine storage. only problem is that it’s on the other side of a horrific bridge.

Chuck Miller - is he owner/manager of SWS or is he another storage option?

thanks!

Dave Mullan at Eastside runs a fine operation. We’re a bit less money and offer some more amenities, but if the location is convenient for you, you can store there with confidence.

Thank you Chuck…good to hear. [thumbs-up.gif]

I guess a general question:

how often does one go to their off-site lockers in general? once a week?
if it’s like a every other day thing, the location is important… but if it’s a once every 3 months thing, then no biggie.

I know everyone will be different, and i’m hoping to hear some opinions either way.
Cheers!

It really depends upon your home storage, what you choose to store offsite, how organized it is, how accessible etc. Some people use offsite as a way to help keep their hands OFF wines they want to age. Some just don’t have the room.

For me I used to visit mine maybe every 4-6 weeks, and I was mostly moving stuff offsite due to very overstuffed cellar at home. Occasionally I would need a bottle for a tasting that was accessible in my offsite locker. Of course when my stuff really started to stack up offsite I was already well into planning and building of a MUCH larger cellar at home.

Mark,

All good advice so far. Chuck is correct that his is less expensive, so you should take that into account. I don’t go into Seattle all that often anymore, so that went into my equation. As far as how often one goes to offsite storage, as Eric said, that depends on you. I have enough space at home that I rarely go to the offsite storage, except when it receives wine for me.

All of that said, Chuck is great, and I have heard nothing but good things about Seattle Wine Storage. Eastside is also a good operation, and I have generally been happy with them.

I noticed that Malt & Vine, in Redmond, has a storage place, but I don’t know anything about it. I like their beer selection, though.
